Your Child and the COVID-19 Vaccine
Cumberland Pediatrics strongly recommends that every child over 12 years of age receive the vaccine. Children under 12 are not yet eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Emergency use authorization may not come until midwinter. The best thing you can do as a parent is "create a line of defense" for your child by making sure all household members over 12 are vaccinated.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that any child over the age of 2 even those who are vaccinated over the age of 12 should be wearing a mask in school this fall. The quality and fit of your child's mask matters. Make sure their nose and mouth are protected.
